Transit T1

Transit T1 applies to the movement of non-EU goods on which duties and taxes are due, and EU goods (Transit T2), which between the point of departure and destination must pass through the territory of a third country. The main purpose of the transit procedure is to secure customs duties and taxes for the transit of goods from point A to point B.

T1 Transit procedure – how to do it ?

There are several types of transit documents, including:

  • Transit T1/T2/T2LF – documents used in transit between countries that are parties to the Convention on a Common Transit Procedure. In this case, the guarantee/security for the period of transit is most often provided by companies with a so-called general guarantee in transit procedure. It is also possible to provide security in the form of cash, although this practice is rarely used. In general, when planning a carriage that will require the goods to be placed under the transit procedure, we recommend in advance contact with a company that can provide such a guarantee and make an application.
  • TIR carnets – documents used in transit between countries that are parties to the TIR Convention. This document is issued by associations/associations of carriers (in Poland it is the Association of International Road Carriers). As of now, the TIR carnet can be used in 62 countries.
  • ATA carnets – documents used in transit between countries that are parties to the ATA Convention. These documents are mainly used in situations when the transported goods must be placed under the temporary clearance procedure in the country of destination. Situations in which ATA Carnets are most often used are fairs, exhibitions, charity events, etc. In Poland, ATA Carnets are issued by the National Chamber of Commerce and it is also a guarantor in the transit procedure
